Leah MacDonald
"Art imitates art."
Leah MacDonald's considerable experience in the realms of photography, encaustic painting and mixed media have produced a significant body of artwork describing sensuous narratives of women.
In a parallel career as a commercial portrait photographer, Leah adapted her process to commissioned work and has founded Waxworks. This commercially successful interpretation of her technique was featured on Martha Stewart’s show.
in May, 2010, Leah returned from giving a workshop at a chateau in France to focus on her multi-media, collaborative project ‘In My Body.’ From November 5 to December 31 the program spans an exhibition and panel discussion: “Are we ever truly at home in our own bodies?” at Wexler Gallery. And a performance at the Painted Bride.
