Susan Hall's much-anticipated book, "River Flowing Home", will be released this fall. Here is an excerpt:

"...As she moves from art school in Oakland to the bohemia of North Beach in San Francisco and then eastward to New York City, Hall shares her discovery of Giorgio de Chirico and Georges Seurat, along with her decisive impressions of contemporary legends like Mark Rothko and James Rosenquist, with whom she had an intense relationship.

She belonged to an historic scene that included Red Grooms and Walter De Maria, and, with wry humor, she describes meeting the celebrated art dealer Leo Castelli and his worshipful dalmatian...The stabilizing constant in her life is Point Reyes, “the underground stream” that exhilarates her...Hall’s brush -- and pen -- recognize a world of tenderness, beauty and fragility with wondrous power."

Gallery Saint Martin News: April 2007

Matt Curtius/Gina Triplett in tandem with their thriving graphic arts careers (that includes a recent sold-out line of tee-shirts for Urban Outfitters, a new line of cards for Target and an LA Times Book Review illustration,) Matt and Gina pursue fine art with equal zeal.

Earlier this year, their work was part of a group exhibit at the Borowsky Gallery of the Gershman Y in Philadelphia (Feb. 15 – Apr. 13) that featured ‘linear and more fully painted elements.’ Their work is currently on view at the Society of Illustrators in New York City.

Susan Hall’s recently released book titled “Home Before Dark” contains a forward by noted contemporary artist James Rosenquist. He writes that, “Susan Hall’s mind is a deep, spatial expanse that is reflected in her work, but one might not immediately understand her motives. So look at Susan’s work and see how she thinks. You might be amazed.” Home Before Dark is her second book, following her successful “Painting Point Reyes.” In addition to new paintings and ceramics, two more books are in the works, one on ceramics and a creative biography.

Last summer, Naomi Limont moved to Lancaster, PA where (at 87 years young) she continues to draw interest in her work. The Eastern Mennonite Heritage Center in Harleysville, PA will feature her National Park Series and a selection of landscapes. Dates for the exhibit are September 9 to October 29.

Monique Seyler’s acrylic and pastel piece “Truce” was selected by juror Polly Apfelbaum for the 67th Annual Juried Exhibit at Woodmere Art Museum. (Jan. 27 – Mar. 4.) An archival print of “Truce” and one of “Foggy Day” have been selected for the First Annual PhillyArts for ALS Benefit to be held at Meadowbrook Country Club in Huntington Valley, PA on Sunday, May 6th. Proceeds from the event will benefit research into this debilitating illness, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
